In the EU and UK, public sector mobile applications should be accessible from 23 June 2021. What does this mean in practice? In this training, you will learn what legal accessibility requirements there are for mobile applications, and how to make those applications accessible for different user groups. The course makes use of both theory and concrete examples.
Understanding how mobile services are used with assistive technology such as screen readers and external keyboards makes it easier to take accessibility into account in development. These usage methods are covered at the beginning of the training.
Next, we will tackle accessibility requirements: what is required by law and how these requirements are taken into account in design, implementation and evaluation. You will get a good overview of the application of accessibility guidelines in mobile apps, practical tips for technical implementation and many useful instructions for evaluating accessibility.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the use of mobile applications with assistive technology for people with different disabilities.
- Recognise legal requirements for mobile app accessibility.
- Consider accessibility requirements in design, technical implementation and content production.
- Use mobile accessibility evaluation techniques and tools.
