Do you really know your users? Are all the features you’ve planned actually needed? Do they work as the users expect?
When usability evaluations are integrated early enough and often enough into the development processes, they can bring substantial savings by steering the process into a direction more suitable for the end-users. Good usability also reduces need for training and support.
In this course, you’ll learn to plan and conduct a usability test with real users. You’ll get both a theoretical background and a practical exercise about the testing. You will also learn to make a heuristic evaluation using ten usability heuristics. Additionally, you will understand how usability and user experience are affected by numerous things. Tools and methods for collecting, communicating and visualising user information will also become familiar to you. You will also get hints on how to integrate user-centred design into agile processes.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Identify things affecting usability and user experience
- Understand constraints in human memory and perception
- Conduct a heuristic evaluation
- Identify some typical usability problems
- Define phases in user-centered design and recommend suitable methods and tools for these phases
- Plan and conduct a usability test face-to-face or remotely using a desktop or a mobile device
