Boldyn Networks partnered with Eficode to establish a standardized Plan, Track & Prioritize (PTP) operating model that embeds strategic alignment and Lean governance into everyday workflows. By restructuring Jira and Confluence, the company eliminated redundant ticketing and created a single source of truth—making strategic visibility, improved delivery predictability, and sustainable team autonomy a natural byproduct of its execution model.

Project Overview
Boldyn Networks is a global leader in shared communications infrastructure, enabling seamless connectivity for transit, venues, enterprises, and smart cities. As part of a broader digital transformation, the Global Digital and Tech team set out to optimize its tooling and ways of working to improve project delivery and IT change management.
At the center of this mission is the Atlassian platform—especially Jira and Confluence—which serves as the operational backbone for delivery, documentation, and coordination between technical and business teams.
The Challenge
Despite already leveraging Atlassian tools, Boldyn recognised a critical opportunity to mature and streamline their internal processes. Their existing practices (where teams tracked the same work in multiple ways and lacked central oversight) meant it was unclear if the work being carried out was fully aligned to the strategic goals, making decision-making more tricky. The team engaged Eficode to establish a single, efficient pathway for all work, linking strategy directly to delivery.
Key pain points included:
Duplicate Jira tickets (team vs. project perspectives) created redundant work and undermined reporting.
Disjointed strategic initiatives meant leaders could not easily connect Stories and Tasks to top-level goals.
Lack of a program view hindered the measurement of large feature sets and slowed cross-team planning.
Inefficient workflows and absent WIP limits fueled multitasking, context switching, and reduced delivery velocity.
The Solution
Boldyn engaged Eficode to implement process-led change using the Atlassian Plan, Track & Prioritize (PTP) package—a blend of discovery, training, and implementation designed to embed optimized ways of working directly in Jira.
Our initial assessment highlighted that Boldyn needed more than just a technical fix. They required an optimized ‘ways of working’ built directly into the Jira structure. The PTP package was the ideal framework because it focuses on achieving a global view of Epics and strategic initiatives, ensuring that every team's work is demonstrably linked to the overarching business strategy.

Nine key recommendations shaped the implementation, including:
Restructuring Jira to eliminate ticket duplication and establish a single source of truth.
Enhancing Epic usage for structured prioritization and clear linkage to project backlogs and initiatives.
Establishing a program-level view via Kanban boards to visualize and measure Epic throughput across teams.
Optimizing workflows by applying Lean/Kanban practices, including WIP limits to improve focus and flow.
Delivery Success
Delivery was built on deep collaboration and mentorship. Acting as an embedded team member, Nigel provided hands-on guidance while empowering Boldyn’s administrators and project managers to lead the configuration themselves. This approach ensured the knowledge remained within Boldyn and that the new practices would be sustainable.
The collaborative, mentoring approach was critical. Eficode didn’t just configure the environment and hand us the keys; they trained our administrators and provided mentorship to our product and project managers. We were empowered to implement changes ourselves, guided by their expertise. This means the knowledge remains entirely within Boldyn, making the improvements sustainable for the long term.
The change has been fundamental. For me, the lasting value is the sustainability of the solution. We didn't just get a technical configuration; we got a clear framework that makes it easy for our teams to follow the new, standardized processes, which is essential for our ongoing digital transformation.
Integration with existing Active Directory and complex permissions was handled iteratively, combining Eficode’s system expertise with Boldyn’s business context to refine and land a robust structure.
The Impact
Single source of truth: Redundant tickets were eliminated, reducing admin effort and enabling accurate, consistent reporting.
Enhanced strategic visibility: Clear linkage from Stories and Tasks through Epics to top-level initiatives increased transparency and accountability.
Improved delivery forecasting: Program-level Kanban and Epic throughput metrics increased predictability for timelines and capacity planning.
Increased team focus: Lean principles and WIP limits reduced context switching and accelerated delivery.
Our overall experience was excellent. Working with Eficode provided us with more than just a configuration change; it was a true partnership. Nigel brought incredible technical depth, and we quickly built a foundation of trust that empowered our team to adopt and maintain these complex changes successfully.
Partnering with Eficode has been a critical enabler in moving Boldyn to a true single source of truth for delivery. It’s given us far greater confidence in our planning, prioritisation and execution, while creating transparency across teams and leadership. What really stood out was Eficode’s focus on upskilling our people — not just implementing tooling, but leaving us with the capability and confidence to continuously improve long after the engagement ended.
Looking Ahead / Next Steps
With the new operating model established, Boldyn will deepen Confluence adoption for structured documentation and requirements, and extend integration with platforms such as ServiceNow to align change and delivery management across the broader digital landscape.
