What do we focus on in license management?

We dive deep into the business processes and analyze which licenses for Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and other Atlassian tools or apps are actually needed – and which are not.

Key to license configuration: We don't just analyze the quantity of licenses needed and use the available budget for purchasing them. We also focus on which Atlassian tools are the best for specific business processes, in partnership with the relevant teams.

As part of our licensing consultation, we also keep an eye on current Atlassian offers, which we, as a Platinum Atlassian Partner, are among the first to know about – and are happy to share with you.

What is Dual Licensing?

When migrating to the cloud, many companies choose a phased approach, where data, users, and applications are migrated step by step. This approach allows for better control but also requires more time. The longer the migration takes, the higher the costs typically are. This is because companies must run both an on-premises instance and a cloud instance in parallel during the migration.

To solve this issue, Atlassian introduced Dual Licensing. This ensures that no double costs arise during the migration, and customers only need to pay for cloud licenses, not for the renewal of on-premises licenses.

What to consider with the role-based access concept?

A role-based access concept for Jira, Confluence, and other tools allows for very specific control over which users can view and/or edit which content. To distribute roles, such as system or area administrators or regular users, the instances must first be analyzed. This way, active user counts and project-specific areas are highlighted. In the next steps, appropriate roles and groups can be defined in an Active Directory, and permissions can be assigned. Jira, Confluence, and others can then pull the defined data from the Active Directory and apply it across all areas. Another great advantage: All Atlassian licenses can be tailored and adjusted as part of a role-based access concept.
