In 2018, the United Nations World Happiness Report saw Finland top the happiness scale and take first place as the happiest nation in the world.
Even though Finland still can’t quite believe it, we’re only happy when we’re ahead of Sweden and the other Nordic countries. That’s why, in the run-up to the 2019 World Happiness Report launch next week, Finland is getting a little bit nervous.
What if Denmark takes the crown from us? Or – the horror – our neighbor and arch-rival, Sweden?
So, with great trepidation, Eficode has launched a campaign to Keep Finland Happy. We’re asking our fellow countrypeople, or Finnish-minded people around Europe, or just generally happy-go-lucky people around the world, to do what is impossible to most Finnish people: express their happiness, in any way they can, on #KeepFinlandHappy.
Do this on Twitter, Facebook, or make your Finnish happiness Insta official by posting on Instagram.
Eficode is a technology and design house with offices in Finland, The Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark and Sweden. It’s safe to say we didn’t consult our Danish and Swedish colleagues when we came up with this campaign.

- Watch the video on www.keepfinlandhappy.com and prepare to see what Finns look like when the sauna isn’t switched on
- Share the video
- Share your moments of real (or 😑) happiness at #KeepFinlandHappy
Together, we can keep Finland happy, even if we will remain a little pessimistic about it. Because we all know that a healthy dose of pessimism built the happiest country in the world.
Ps. Eficode is the happiest company in the happiest country in the world because we said so. Feel free to join our crew and spread the happiness that way, whether to the people you work with, the designs you create, or the code you dream up.
